How does the tarot work?

Firstly, let me state that these are my own beliefs and that other tarotists may have differing beliefs.

Since I was a child I have always believed that every single creature on earth has a spiritual connection – I didn’t have a label for it as a child – I just knew that somehow we are all connected.

There is something within each of us that if we dig deep enough to discover it knows how Johnny next door, Joanna in Australia, Juan in Mexico or Johann in Austria feels – we all have a deep psychic/spiritual connection.

It is my belief that the tarot helps us to ‘tap into’ this psychic/spiritual connection. The label most people would put on this is ‘psychic’. Psychics know how to tap into and connect with the people they come into contact with.

‘But I’m not psychic’ I hear you say. Well, yes, actually you are – as every being on this earth is – you just forgot how to tap into it and learning the tarot and doing other psychic exercises can help you to access that psychic/spiritual connection again.

Actually, you don’t need the tarot to access that spiritual connection you have with every other person on earth as it is just a tool that you can use to help you with the connection. I have to admit that although I know I don’t need my cards they have become my ‘crutch’ if you like. They are my way of deciding when I will access the spiritual connection and when I will shut down and block it out.

I believe that when we use the tarot as a tool we already know what we need to say to someone and somehow the universe brings out the right cards at the right time so that we can access that ‘knowing’.

Sounds very magical doesn’t it. But its not magical at all – we are just connecting with something that exists naturally.

Try giving a pack of tarot cards to a very young child and you will be astonished at the results. Young children haven’t learnt to block out that spiritual connection to others and can give readings with such clarity and honesty it can take your breath away.

So who can learn the tarot?

Everyone – you just have to tap back into that spiritual connection. It doesn’t need to be forced as it seems to happen naturally as you open up to it by learning the tarot or doing other psychic exercises. Meditating or visually journeying with your mind into each of the cards is one of the best methods and hence the reason why this exercise is included in every section of my course.

What can you gain by learning the tarot?

learning the tarot opens up a greater understanding of the world and people around you. It gives you a greater understanding of your own emotions, motives and fears and that of others.

My greatest joy as a reader is knowing that I have helped another person. Knowing that I have helped them to sort things out in their own minds or helped them to see other possible paths. Not that they didn’t already know everything I have talked with them about – most people already know what they need to do, they just need someone to talk to in order to clarify what they already know. Instead of talking to a parent, friend or relative they choose to consult a tarot reader.
